Because of the unique qualities of each quilt, as well as the diverse personalities of the individuals who construct them, it is difficult to “quote prices” prior to seeing the top and discussing the desires of the customer.  So many factors may affect the cost of quilting.  I work with each quilter in determining the final cost.  My charges are competitive with other long arm quilters in the area and I have many satisfied, repeat customers.

Please be aware that the total cost is made up of charges for quilting, batting and thread, as well as any additional preparation required before loading the project onto the frame.  I do have a minimum charge of $35.

Shipping and handling are additional.  I usually use insured, USPS Priority mail.

I accept checks or cash payment.

Turn-around time is usually 60 to 90 days.

Please contact me to discuss your project and together we will design the quilt of your dreams…at a price we can both afford.
QUILTING:

I determine prices using a four-tier system with the prices increasing at each level starting at $10.  I have over 500 patterns available with many, many more accessible on special order.

Tier I
Medium to large meander and pattern-meanders
$10 - $12 per square yard

Tier II
More detailed, thread-intensive-edge-to-edge patterns
$14 - $18 per square yard

Tier III
Custom: separate patterns for borders, sashes, blocks
$20 per square yard

Tier IV
Custom: many, detailed patterns and free-motion designs
$22 and up per square yard

Prices are based on square yardage of the pre-quilted top. To determine the square yards of your quilt, measure both the width and length of the quilt top: multiply these two figures; and divide the answer by 1296.

Width ´ Length = Total;  Total ¸ 1296 = Square Yards
Example:  60” ´  72”  =  4320;  4320 ¸ 1296 = 3.3 square yards
Thus, a Tier I pattern would vary from $33.00 to $39.60, while a Tier IV custom would begin at $72.60.

MONEY SAVING TIPS:

You, the customer, can help to contain the cost of having your quilt professionally machine quilted by assuring proper preparation of both the top and the backing.  Refer to “PREPARE”.  Proper preparation of the top and backing allows me to spend less time prepping before I can load the quilt onto the frame.

Other factors to consider:
  • Does your quilt absolutely need custom quilting or would a complementary edge-to-edge pattern be satisfactory?
  • Have you added embellishments or appliqué to work around?
  • Do you wish a decorative thread or more than one color thread?
  • Is it necessary to special order that specific pattern?
  • What type of batting do you desire?
  • Is your backing designed to offer a “reversible” option requiring additional care in lining up the top and backing on the frame?
  • Will you prepare the backing on your own?
  • Will you prepare and attach the binding on your own?
